Fort William

An unexpected break – a long weekend in Fort William! Even though we only had two nights, we made the most of it – eating out in a couple of  nice restaurants,  particularly The Crannog, taking a cable car up Ben Nevis range,

a wildlife tour on the Loch Linnhe (saw porpoises but didn’t catch on camera),

and finishing with a great pork roll at the Hot Roast Company before heading  home. Detoured via Glen Etive, for a bit of a look, and nearly ran into a group of feeding deer (the stag wandered off before I could get his picture).

It was particularly poignant for me, as my father died on Ben Nevis in 1980, and I’ve never visited, only passed through.
